All five of the South Georgia State College Hawks’ starters scored double-digit points in Saturday’s home game against the Southern Crescent Tech Tigers, with Jeremy Anderson (redshirt sophomore, Monroe Area High School) leading the way with 23 points and 10 rebounds.
The Hawks led 42-37 at halftime then pulled away in the second half to win easily 104-85. In addition to Anderson’s 23 and 10, Reggie White (sophomore, Williston, Fla.) scored 17 points, followed by Chandler Thomas (sophomore, Veterans) with 15, Aaron Jones with 12 (and eight rebounds), and Trey Callaway (sophomore, Tyler Community College) with 11. Da’avion Thomas (redshirt freshman, Talladega College) poured in 15 points in 22 minutes off the bench.
The Hawks shot nearly 65 percent from the field, 50 percent from the three-point line, and hit 83 percent of their free throws.
SGSC has four regular season games remaining before the conference tournament. The Hawks, sitting in second place, are 16-10 overall and 9-3 in conference play.
