Sharon Lee Hester wright age 79 of Douglas passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at CRMC Surrounded by her family and friends. Sharon was born May 6, 1946, the first of three Children to the late George R. Hester, Sr. and Ophelia Nettles Hester of Douglas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ethridge Wright Jr. She is survived by one daughter, Regina Wright Spires and husband Howard of Douglas, granddaughter Candace Davis Daniels and husband Craig Of Alma, three great-grandchildren, Addalyn Davis, Bryleigh Daniels and Bryson Daniels of Alma. She was also survived by four-step grandchildren Krista Garrison, Kaci Vaughn, Shaun Spires, Katlin Spires as well as 13 Step great grand Children. One sister, Bonnie Musgrove and husband Raymond of Douglas, one brother, Raymond Hester of Douglas, along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Sharon was married to her husband, Ethridge, for 53 and 1/2 years. She retired from Walmart after 15 1/2 years and happily stepped into her role as a homemaker and a full-time granny. She dearly loved her husband and her family. She also enjoyed camping and fishing. She and Ethridge and Regina would head to the river to catch a mess of fish and spend the day together. Even when she didn’t catch a thing, she was content just being by the river.
Sharon was a member of Jowers Chapel Holiness Baptist Church and attended as long as she was able. She loved the Lord and she loved people. She never met a stranger. Her faith remained strong and steadfast until the very end of her life.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Sims Funeral Home in Douglas, GA, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Jowers Chapel at 11:00 AM, with Rev Marshall Dye and Rev. Howard Holt officiating along with special speaker Tim Hicks. Interment will follow at Tanner Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will include: Shaun Spires, Kody Garrison, Barry Whitley, Steve Whitley, Morris Nettles, Charles Burnam, Waylon Taft, Daniel Whittle, and David Rentz.
Honorary Pallbearers will include: Jowers Chapel Members.
Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
