Mrs. Shirley Ann Jewell Meeler, age 78, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away early Tuesday morning, February 17, 2026, at Vista Park Health and Rehabilitation following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Meeler, a lifelong resident of Coffee County, was born February 24, 1947, to the late Isom Jewell and the late Oneda Phillips Jewell. She was a homemaker who found great joy in maintaining a happy home for 58 years for her late husband, Billy Harrison Meeler, prior to his passing, and raising their three daughters. She loved her family dearly. In her later years her life revolved around her grandchildren. She was of the Latter Day Saints faith. Along with her parents and husband, Mrs. Meeler was preceded in death by seven siblings: Doris Mizell, Harvey Jewell, Merrill Jewell, J. R. Jewell, Gerald Jewell, Bernice Crosby, and Barbara Knight.
Mrs. Meeler leaves behind her three daughters: Kimberly Vickers (Brent) of Douglas, Georgia, Brandi Britt (Kevin) of Pearson, Georgia, and Shenise Lee (Scott) of Douglas, Georgia; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Judy Lott of Douglas, Georgia, and Donna Paulk of Nicholls, Georgia; along with several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A graveside service and interment will be held to honor Mrs. Meeler on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Little Utah Cemetery with Rev. Timothy Fussell officiating. A musical selection of “Jealous of the Angels” will be presented from the recorded music of Donna Taggert.
