South GeorgiaLEADS is now accepting applications for its 2027 Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI), a regional leadership development program designed to empower women, strengthen professional and personal leadership skills, and foster meaningful connections across South Georgia.
Launched in 2023, the Women’s Leadership Initiative has been part of South GeorgiaLEADS’ regional leadership development efforts since its inception. Designed by women for women, the program provides a unique opportunity for participants to engage in meaningful conversations, learn from experienced leaders and peers, and explore the challenges and opportunities facing women throughout the region.
WLI builds upon South GeorgiaLEADS’ commitment to developing informed, engaged leaders who contribute to the economic and civic vitality of South Georgia. The initiative brings together women from diverse professional backgrounds, including business, education, healthcare, nonprofit organizations, government and community leadership.
Through a combination of interactive sessions, networking opportunities and regional experiences, participants gain valuable insight into issues affecting women while building relationships that extend beyond their individual communities.
“When you bring together strong, talented women who are passionate about their communities, incredible things happen. The Women’s Leadership Initiative creates the space for those women to connect, grow, and inspire one another while strengthening the future of South Georgia,” says Tommie Beth Willis, 2027 WLI Program Chair.
The 2027 Women’s Leadership Initiative will begin in January and conclude in June, with sessions hosted in six South Georgia counties. Each session will focus on topics relevant to women’s leadership and the evolving needs of the region.
