The Coffee High School Theatre Company has cast and begun practicing for this semester’s play called The Elf on a Shelf Must Die by Don Zolidis. This comedy one-act play is full of Christmas cheer and dad jokes for any family. But shield the eyes and ears of the little ones, as some elves on shelves might be harmed in the process. The play will be directed by Coffee High School’s new Theatre Director, Bryce Carver, and will be cast and crewed solely by CHS students.
The cast and crew will be practicing and rehearsing to compete across the region and state in the One Act Play Competition. The One Act Play Competition is an official GHSA activity that focuses on acting and competes with other schools around the state. Coffee High’s Advanced Drama classes will travel first to Houston County High School to compete in the Region 2 Competition. If CHS advances to the state championships, CHS students will travel to Carrollton High School to compete in the GHSA State One Act Play Championships.
The school and community performance of The Elf on a Shelf Must Die will be Saturday, December 5, 2026, at the Clayton W. Mathis Performing Arts Center at Coffee High School. Doors will open at 5:30 PM, and the curtain will open at 6 pm. Tickets will be available for purchase closer to the performance.
“When Sammy and Mook’s parents present them with Pip, an Elf of a Shelf, they are less than happy. This little snitch is going to be reporting all their activities to Santa, so their hopes of getting an Xbox look doomed. And that’s before Sammy accidentally murders Pip. What follows is a Tarantinoesque Christmas caper as the two kids race against the clock to bring their elf back to life before Santa finds out.”
