After trailing the Northside-Warner Robins Eagles 7-3 at halftime, the Coffee Trojans erupted for 34 second-half points to win a big region Homecoming match-up 37-7.
Newcomer LJ Devine, a midseason transfer from Fitzgerald (where he led the Purple Hurricanes and the region in rushing) who played his first game for Coffee last week, entered Friday night with 914 rushing yards between the two schools.
After a productive outing last week against Houston, Devine formally introduced himself to the Trojan Nation with three second-half touchdowns. Devine scored on runs of two yards, 10 yards, and 35 yards. Bobby Reynolds scored Coffee’s other two touchdowns.
Kicker Cristofer Hernandez put up the Trojans’ other points with a 20-yard field goal in the second quarter. He was also four out of five on extra points.
The Trojans are 7-1 overall and 3-1 against Region 2-6A opponents. Coffee has two more games remaining, both of which are on the road. Next week, the Trojans travel to Thomas County to face the #1-ranked Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets. The following week, Coffee wraps its season in Kathleen against Veterans.
