A Tuesday afternoon auto accident on Highway 221 between Cherokee Hills and Beaver Kreek resulted in a fatality.
Two vehicles – a white pickup truck and a small car – collided head on between 3:30 and 4 p.m. The driver of the car did not survive the accident.
The accident blocked traffic for about an hour and motorists traveling north on 221 were detoured to Cross Road while first responders processed the accident scene.
The occupants of the white pickup did not suffer any serious injuries.
The investigation into the accident is active and ongoing.
