Wiregrass Georgia Technical College has signed an articulation agreement with Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) that creates a seamless transfer pathway for students pursuing careers in elementary education.
The agreement allows students who earn an Education degree from Wiregrass Georgia Technical College to transfer into ABAC’s Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education program, providing a clear and affordable pathway to completing a four-year degree and entering the teaching profession. Leaders from both institutions gathered July 8 to commemorate the partnership.
“It’s about the students!” DeAnnia Clements, President of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, said. “It’s about putting them first and making sure they have the opportunity to pursue their goals, dreams and futures.”
The partnership strengthens Wiregrass Georgia Technical College’s commitment to student success by providing graduates with a direct pathway to continue their education while maximizing the transfer of eligible coursework. Students who meet ABAC’s admission requirements and are accepted into the elementary education program can transition seamlessly into the bachelor’s degree program.
“The impact of one outstanding teacher extends far beyond a single classroom,” Dr. Tracy Brundage, ABAC President, said. “Like a pebble dropped into a pond, the ripple reaches students, families, and entire communities, creating opportunities that can change lives for generations.”
The articulation agreement includes a detailed program-to-program transfer map that outlines how coursework completed in the Wiregrass education program applies toward ABAC’s Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education degree. Students pursuing the teacher preparation pathway must also satisfy ABAC’s program admission requirements.
The agreement became effective April 1, 2026, and will remain in effect for five years, with the opportunity for renewal by mutual agreement.
As Georgia continues to face a growing demand for qualified educators, partnerships like this help remove barriers for students while strengthening the workforce pipeline for schools throughout the region. The collaboration reflects Wiregrass Georgia Technical College’s mission to provide accessible, high-quality education that leads to successful careers and continued educational advancement.
