A 49-year-old woman remains in the Coffee County Jail on aggravated assault charges after she allegedly cut her 68-year-old husband multiple times as a result of a 4 a.m. argument.
A report from the Douglas Police Department states that on July 11, 2026, at around 4:30 a.m., an officer responded to McDonald Road in reference to a welfare check. When the officer arrived, he found the male victim outside with a wound on his collarbone. The victim stated that his wife, 49-year-old Shona Grady, had cut him with a knife.
The report says that Grady had just arrived home and the victim didn’t want her to leave “due to her walking the streets.” This led to an argument that turned physical, the report says. Grady allegedly cut the victim with a knife. The victim had cuts on top of his head, one hand, and a shin.
The report says that Grady stated that the victim had scratched her thigh. The report, however, says that the victim did not have fingernails long enough to leave the kind of marks that Grady described. Other than that, Grady wouldn’t say anything, according to the report.
While officers were on the scene, another male who had been in a room in the house began yelling at the police officers to leave. One officer told the man, identified as Marcus Fussell, 59, that he would go to jail if he didn’t return to the room. The report says that Fussell stated that he wanted to go to jail. The officer obliged Fussell and placed him under arrest on obstruction charges.
Both Grady and Fussell were transported to the Coffee County Jail. Fussell was released on a $1,000 property bond while Grady remains in jail.
