Douglas-Coffee County Parks and Recreation will begin basketball registration for ages 5-17 on Monday, November 2, 2020.  Safely returning to sports will include adhering to the strict safety protocols set forth by the State of Georgia.

“We are eager for our participants to return to playing sports,” says Parks and Recreation Director Stevie Young.  “We should be playing basketball soon, and parents should know we are taking all the safety precautions we possibly can to best protect players, parents, coaches, and anyone who may attend the games.”

Parks and Recreation is looking at several alternatives to begin Basketball games which may include temperature checks, mask requirements, social distancing, enhanced cleaning, restricting the number of spectators at games based upon COVID-19 guidelines, and/or halting the season due to team members, coaches, employees, or officials testing positive to COVID-19.

Basketball registration begins November 2 and runs through November 27, 2020.  If no further COVID-19 safety precautions are implemented, games may begin in January 2021.  Youth Basketball volunteer coaches are needed for the upcoming season.  Please apply at the Douglas-Coffee County Parks and Recreation main office.  Coaches must submit a criminal history and be approved by the Parks and Recreation staff.  For more information, please call the Douglas-Coffee County Parks and Recreation Department at (912)384-5978.
