Zachary Sheppard has been named the new Telecommunications and Security Instructor for Wiregrass Georgia Technical College on the Ben Hill-Irwin Campus. Sheppard has over six years of experience in the telecommunication industry. His experience includes; installing commercial and residential camera systems, fiber optic networks, and cabling commercial buildings and residential for cameras, alarms, phones, access control and networks. His experience also includes servicing camera systems, security alarms, VOIP phone systems, access control, and commercial and residential networks.
The Telecommunications program is making a return to the Ben Hill-Irwin Campus and started Fall Express term will be available on the Cook Campus. “I want to pass down to my students that the telecommunications industry is a very rewarding industry. This industry is never going away, it’s growing every day,” shared Sheppard.
Sheppard chose this career path because at first it looked and sounded intriguing. “After I started working with the GoFroe Company in Fitzgerald, it opened my eyes to all of the possibilities that this field offers,” shared Scarborough. “This field is very rewarding, you get to help people with their technology needs. I am a big advocate for customer service.” Sheppard wants to instill in his students how good it feels when you do a great and professional job and your client is pleased.
The college is offering three technical certificates starting Fall Semester, Cable Installation Specialist, Low Voltage System Installer, and Low Voltage Electronic Safety and Security Technician.
