Mr. Donnie Lavoy Phillips, Sr., age 67, passed away at his residence Saturday, July 12, 2014, following an extended illness. Mr. Phillips was born in Douglas August 29, 1946, to the late Claude Wesley Phillips, Sr. and Myrtice Chaney Phillips.
He is survived by his wife, Marion Partin Phillips of Douglas; one daughter, Donna Phillips Motamedi of Brunswick; three grandchildren, Isabella Ahra Motamedi and Phillip Keon Motamedi of Sugar Hill and Savannah Collins of Savannah; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Donnie Lavoy Phillips, Jr.; two sisters, Betty Merritt and Murrell Story; two brothers, Albert Johns and C. W. Phillips, Jr.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 14, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home.
Mr.Phillips will lie in state at Southview Church of God from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, and the funeral service will proceed at 2 p.m., with Rev. Hilton Martin, Rev. Floyd Musgrove and Rev. Benji Capps officiating. Interment will follow at Reedy Branch Church Cemetery.
Sims Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
