Southwire’s big back to school giveaway is this Friday

Southwire’s Project GIFT, Giving Inspiration For Tomorrow, will be holding its fifth annual back to school giveaway this Friday, July 18.

The Douglas manufacturing company will be giving away 2000 bags of school supplies to children in grades K-12 (three bag limit per family) from 7 a.m. until noon in downtown Douglas at the Central Square Complex. There will also be a “Favorite Teacher Contest,” and members of Covenant Church will be on hand to give away 2000 book bags for the students to carry their new supplies.

Wiregrass Technical College cosmetology and criminal justice students will be on hand to offer free basic haircuts and fingerprinting to students from 7 a.m. to 11:30.

Other events and giveaways will be provided by the Douglas Fire Dept., Douglas Police Dept., Wiregrass Tech Continuing Education, Fender-Goggans Orthodontics, and Fitzgerald Family Eye Care.

Representatives from the Boys and Girls Club of Coffee County will be on hand, with food and beverages provided by Williams Foods, Ameris Bank, and Premium Waters.
