Billy Davis, age 74 of Douglas, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Hospice Atlanta, Emory Health Care in Atlanta. Mr. Davis was born September 6, 1939, in Douglas to the late James Milton Davis and Aileen Carter Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Davis of Douglas; son, Tony (Brandy) Davis of Douglas; four grandchildren, Ryan Davis, Emily Davis, Hillary Davis, and Bran Davis; two great grandchildren, Addison Nipper and Bo Davis Dockery; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Davis of Douglas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Derek Davis, and brothers Doyle Davis, Bobby Davis, and Jimmy Davis.
Visitation was Tuesday, July 29, 2014.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 30, at Covenant Christian Church, with Pastor Gregory Pope, Rev. Leroy Spivey, Ferrell Peterson, and Brandon Davis officiating and eulogy by Joe Miller. Entombment followed at Dixie Mausoleum at Douglas City Cemetery. Music was furnished for the service by Danny Chaney, “Anchor Holds,” Dewayne Holt, “My Redeemer Lives,” Heather Stodghill, “Jerusalem,” and Derick Soles, “Nothing Left To Prove.” Active Pallbearers were Bobby Gladin, Glenn Ray Harrell, Ben Vickers, L.C. Porter, Larry English, Phillip Collier, George Fletcher, and Ashley Carver. Honorary pallbearers were all attendees of the service.
Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
