Barbara Ann Jackson Wilkinson, 72 of Athens, died August 2, 2014. Barbara was born December 28, 1941, in Douglas. She was the fifth of six children born to Charlie Talmadge Jackson and Boycie Ann Carver Jackson.

Barbara graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Mathematics in 1963. She reared her children in Albemarle NC, Pocos de Caldas, Brazil, Alcoa TN, and Ocilla, GA. While in Ocilla, she owned Best Brew Coffee Service and Colony Square Maytag Laundry and was a member of the local Pilot Club. She taught math in Stanly County NC, Blount County TN, and most recently at Athens Technical College. As a sales representative, Barbara was Enesco’s Pro Salesperson of the year in 1996. Barbara moved to Athens in 2002 where she enjoyed life as a grandmother, real estate agent, bridge player, tennis player, Georgia Master Gardener, and member of the DAR.

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Trish and Rob Jones of Madison and Jennifer and Marc Dipoto of Kansas City, MO; a sister, Bonnie Swails of Jacksonville, FL; a brother, Lamar and Wilma Jackson of Tifton; twelve nieces and nephews; six grandchildren; Emily Jones, Caroline Jones, Sam Jones, Andrew Dipoto, Hannah Dipoto, and Charlie Dipoto. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charlie T. Jackson; and two sisters, Billie Tesh and Nancy Thomas.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, August 5th, at Bernstein Funeral Home in Athens, followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. Burial will be in the Douglas City Cemetery in Douglas, Georgia, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 6th.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation (BJALCF) www.lungcancerfoundation.org.
