Janice H. Deen, age 62 of Douglas, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Deen was born October 8, 1951, in Alma, to the late Otis Murrell Dukes and Nellie Maude Godwin Dukes.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Deen of Douglas; two daughters, Michelle (Claude) Burkett and Angie (Johnny) Taylor both of Douglas; three special grandchildren, Dillon Burkett, Dalton Burkett, and Tiffany Waters all of Douglas; two sisters, Dorothy Sue (Rev. John) Carver of Douglas and Chris (Roy) Metts of Douglas; brother, Cecil (Laura) Dukes of Clewiston, FL; step granddaughter, Amanda Taylor of Alma; five step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Dean Dukes, James Dukes, and Murrell Dukes.

Funeral services were held Sunday, August 24, 2014, at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home, with Rev. John Carver officiating. Interment followed at Douglas City Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were John Ott, Brian Lott, John Deen, Chad Hollis, Quiness Carver, and Braden Mobley.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
