Mr. Eschol David Sheffield, Jr., age 72 of Douglas, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014, at his home following an extended illness. He was born June 25, 1942 , in Milan to the late Eschol David Sheffield, Sr. and Susie Farmer Sheffield.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lee Black Sheffield of Douglas; son, Dave (Marilyn) Sheffield of Glenville; three daughters, Vicki (Carl) Halligan of Vidalia, Tabitha (John) Griffin of Nicholls, and Amy (Josh) Meeks of Douglas; one brother, Jimmy Sheffield of Monroe; two sisters, Mildred Merritt of Monroe and Inez Floyd of McRae; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Sweet Home Baptist Church Cemetery in Chauncey, with Rev. Brian Merritt and Rev. James Griffin officiating.

Sims Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
