The Recording Academy (GRAMMYS) has elected Douglas native Shani Sammons to the Atlanta Chapter Board of Governors.

The Atlanta Chapter works toward maintaining a membership that reflects the diversity of its music community by providing engaging educational, professional, and social opportunities that invite the participation of its members. The Chapter’s long-term goal is to offer a nurturing environment for the Southeast recording community, to maximize the leadership talents of the many volunteers who are the heart of the organizations that share a common vision of the importance of the arts and arts education, and to provide quality, cutting-edge educational opportunities for its members.

Each chapter (Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, Nashville, etc) has a board which is elected by the members of that Chapter and who are entrusted to steer the Chapter’s local programming. Other Atlanta Chapter Board of Governors Shani serves with include Kristian Bush (Sugarland), John Driskell Hopkins (Zac Brown Band), Tai Anderson (Third Day), Matt Still (Producer for Elton John), Chaka Zulu (Ludacris manager), and many more.

Shani has worked with brands, via projects or directly, such as Delta Air Lines, Inc, AT&T, Turner Broadcasting, NASCAR.COM, Styx, GRAMMY Award winning country duo Sugarland, Florida Georgia Line, Jana Kramer, David Nail, Lady Antebellum, Sean Kingston, Shiner Bock, and Jan Smith.

In addition to owning her own music marketing agency, Shani manages the country music marketing efforts and strategy for AT&T’s country music channel, “Country Deep”.

Shani holds a master’s of business administration in global business and marketing from The Georgia Institute of Technology and a bachelor of science in urban policy studies from Georgia State University, both in Atlanta.

Shani is the daughter of Jimmy and Eleanor Sammons of Douglas.
