Mrs. Linda Lee Merritt Newbern, age 72, of Broxton, GA passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2014, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Newbern was born on September 10, 1942, in Cape Charles, VA to the late Charles Thomas Merritt and Sudie Isabelle Butler Merritt Salvador.

Survivors include: her daughter, Tracy (John Allen) Morris of Douglas, GA; son, Jason Newbern of Broxton, GA; brother, Arce Salvador of Athens, TN; sister, Patricia Salvador Hartwick of Belle Glade, FL; four grandchildren, Tierany Cline of Hazlehurst, GA; Jordan Cline of St. Michaels, Minnesota; Brooke Cline of Douglas, GA; and Blade Morris of Douglas, GA; three great grandchildren: London Prescott, Kole Moore and Liam Lott and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Lagree Newbern, SR., son, Jackie Lagree Newbern, Jr., father, Charles Thomas Merritt; mother, Sudie Salvador; stepfather, Manual Salvador and two sisters, Charlotte Norwood and Eileen Singleton.

Graveside Services will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Cumorah Cemetery with Arce Salvador and family officiating.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
