A Coffee County man accused of beating and holding his estranged wife against her will remains in the county jail after having his bond denied earlier this week.
Dennis Wayne Lytle, age 41, appeared before Superior Court Judge Dwayne Gillis requesting a bond in relation to an incident that occurred in August.
According to a report obtained through the sheriff’s office, the victim met with deputies at the law enforcement center on August 18 and stated she had gone to an address on Weeks Rd. to pick up her children from friends. Unbeknownst to her, she told authorities, her husband was also on the property and, following a brief verbal exchange, the alleged offender grabbed and forced her into a camper trailer. During the altercation, she said, Lytle struck her numerous times and would not allow her to leave the domicile. The victim stated she screamed for help and was eventually assisted by a friend who heard the commotion.
The reporting deputy noted he observed multiple visible injuries to the victim on her arms, face, and stomach. The victim added she later learned Lytle had apparently been allowed to move his camper to the property where the incident occurred, though she was unaware of it at the time.
The victim testified in court that the entire incident lasted around 30 minutes.
Lytle was charged with kidnapping, aggravated stalking, and battery. At the time of the incident, he was already out of jail on bond on charges including aggravated stalking and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
According to Georgia law, kidnapping is defined as ” when a person abducts or steals away another person without lawful authority or warrant and holds such other person against his or her will.”
Judge Gillis denied the defendant’s bond request citing his potential to commit further felonies and being a possible threat to the victim and community.
