Vera Harper Burkett, age 87, of Douglas, GA passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Shady Acres following an extended illness. Mrs. Burkett was born on August 28, 1927, in Ambrose, GA to the late Reason Harper and Dolcie Jowers Harper.

Survivors include: her two sisters-in-law, Winnie Hayes of Alma, GA and Weida Alsburger of Lexington, KY; brother-in-law, Wallace Burkett of Fernandina Beach, FL; three nephews, Rev. Wayne Hayes, Wendell Hayes, and Fernell Burkett; two nieces, Wendy Burkett and Gail Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Burkett. Graveside

Service will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Reedy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Hayes and Rev. Jason Hayes officiating. Music was furnished for the service by Congregation “Amazing Grace”. Active Pallbearers were: Wendell Hayes, Jason Hayes, Jeremy Hayes, Allen Alh, and Demery Meeks.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
