Bikes, Blues and BBQ organizers add ‘Cooking for Fun’ category to Douglas BBQ Cook-Off

The Bikes, Blues, and BBQ Festival will be held in Douglas on Friday, April 10 and Saturday, April 11. The Douglas BBQ Cook-Off is held in conjunction with the Bikes, Blues, and BBQ Festival, along with several activities including live entertainment, NAPA/Brooks Auto Car Show, motorcycle show, poker run, vintage aviation aircraft display, WWII Flight Training Museum tours, motorcycle road skills testing, general, food, arts & craft vendors and more.

“We are thrilled to partner with Georgia BBQ Association again this year for the Douglas BBQ Cook-Off,” says Georgia Henderson, Public Information Department Director. “We are adding a ‘Cooking for Fun’ category to the cook-off in the hopes to get some of our backyard BBQ teams involved. Last year, we had over 20 professional teams competing and this year we are hoping to host even more!”

Teams wishing to participate in the Douglas BBQ Cook-Off or the Cooking for Fun competition, should contact the city’s public information department at (912) 383-0277.

Registration is now underway with team entry beginning at $275 for the main event and $150 for the Cooking for Fun event.

The cook team meeting will be Friday, April 10 at 5 p.m. Standard GBA turn-in times will be observed. Payout for the main event categories will be $500 and trophy for 1st place, $400 and trophy for 2nd place, $250 and trophy for 3rd place, $150 and medallion for 4th place, $75 and medallion for 5th place and 6th-10th places will receive certificates. The main cooking event reserve champion will receive $1000 and trophy and the Grand Champion will receive $2500 and trophy. The payout for the Cooking for Fun categories will be $300 and trophy for 1st place, $150 and certificate for 2nd place, and $75 and certificate for 3rd place.

The Bikes, Blues and BBQ Festival will open to the public on Friday from 1 to 11 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Douglas Municipal Gene Chambers Airport on U.S. 441 South. General gate admission is $5 per person, $3.00 with military ID, and 12 & under free.
