The South Georgia State College Hawks baseball team is headed to the conference tournament this week as a second seed after defeating Gordon State College three out of four games to finish off the regular season. Not only did the Hawks clinch a second seed but they knocked Gordon out of the tournament in the process. SGSC finishes the season with a record of 33-20 overall, 19-13 in conference play.

Head coach Jeff Timothy is proud of what the Hawks have accomplished this season. “They’ve done a fantastic job. They’ve worked hard all season long and it has paid off. We are now preparing for the conference tournament, where the Hawks will make their school proud,” states Coach Timothy.

The games against Gordon State College ended in a win of 6-0 on Monday, a win of 5-0 on Friday, and a split double header on Saturday with a win of 3-1 and a loss of 10-6.

Darton State College had secured the regular season title and took the #1 seed followed by South Georgia State with the #2 seed. The #3 and #4 seeds are held by Georgia Perimeter and ABAC, respectively. West Georgia Tech and Georgia Highlands come in as the #5 and #6 seeds

The conference tournament will be May 6-9 and will be hosted by Darton State College in Albany. All the scores and updates can be seen at thegcaa.com and on Twitter @THEGCAA.
