Douglas police responded to two gunshot incidents that occurred within hours of each other last night. One suspect is behind bars this morning in regards to one of the incidents, while a second remains unnamed.

Around 7 p.m. Sunday, authorities responded to Roundtree Park, 801 S. Gaskin Ave., in reference to a male subject receiving a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as 29-year-old Kentorri Lamar Strozier, was transported to Coffee Regional Medical Center by EMS. The specifics of his injuries have not been released as of yet and Douglas police could not provide a suspect’s name when questioned early Monday morning.

Just after 10:30 p.m., Douglas police received a second call regarding a gunshot victim at 421N. Dewey Ave, where they discovered 23-year-old Andrew Jackson, IV had been shot in the mouth. Authorities were able to make contact with the suspect at the scene, and 22-year-old Brandon Shakeel Carter was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. The condition of the victim in this case is also unknown at this time.

Douglas Police Chief Gary Casteloes stated that Carter is not considered a suspect in the incident at Roundtree Park, though the two cases are indirectly related to one another.

Casteloes added the police department would be issuing a press release on the incidents later today.
