Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit (DCDU) detectives made two arrests last week following a residential search that yielded methamphetamine, marijuana, and controlled substance prescription medications Xanax and lorazepam.

Authorities stated Ronald Allen Lott, Jr. was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a scheduled controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana following a July 9 search at 199 Ron’s Lane. Also arrested during the incident was 31-year-old Amanda Jacobs of Waycross, who was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Drug unit detectives also reported these additional recent arrests:

July 14 – Coffee County Sheriff’s Office deputies and DCDU HEAT Unit officers stopped a vehicle on Hwy 441 at Osbon Mills Rd. in Douglas after officers recognized the driver driving with a suspended license.  During the traffic stop, officers discovered methamphetamine inside the vehicle; DCDU was contacted, and Thomas Lyman Adams, III (39) of Douglas was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and driving with a suspended license.

July 16 – DCDU HEAT Unit officers stopped a vehicle on N. Peterson Ave. at Gordon St. in Douglas for a traffic violation.  During the traffic stop, officers discovered the passengers of the vehicle to be in possession of methamphetamine, methadone, Lorcet, and Xanax; DCDU was contacted.  Amy Renee Tyson (27) of Douglas was arrested for possession of a scheduled controlled substance, and  Jessie Walter Burkhalter (47) of Douglas was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, three counts of possession of a scheduled controlled substance, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Burkhalter had a stolen .380 Glock handgun concealed in the waistband of his pants, authorities stated.  Officers later determined the weapon had been stolen from an unspecified location in Tift County, and law enforcement officials in Tifton were notified.
