The South Georgia State College Women’s Soccer Team started their fall season in a scrimmage against Brewton Parker College, and the Hawks came out on top in a 3-0 win, with goals by Melissa Carpenter, Bailey Pickering, and Shanelle Frederick. The Hawks then played South Georgia United and scored two goals by Abby Cuneo and Melissa Carpenter to take the win, 2-0.

Head Soccer Coach Ben Horner was pleased with the work the Hawks have done so far.

“Our team is working on their fitness and team chemistry,” he said. “We’ve come a long way in the last two weeks. I believe that we have great potential to succeed this year, but we have lots of work to do to reach our goal of making it to the national tournament. We were so close last year and we are pushing hard to get there this year!”

The Lady Hawks Soccer Team will play their first official game at home September 4 against Georgia Military College at 5 p.m.
