The fall softball season is underway at South Georgia State College, and the Lady Hawks are looking ahead to next spring with confidence.

“The girls are putting in a great amount of work to prepare themselves for a successful spring season,” said head coach Nichole Levering. “I have no doubt they will perform and exceed expectations.”

Levering is counting on the solid group of eight returning sophomores to guide the newcomers in the program. The nine new freshmen will complement the skill level and athletic ability of an already talented team and even raise the bar. The success from the past season sets high expectations for the 2015-2016 team, which aspires for continued success and the goal of reaching the GCAA Conference Tournament.

The Lady Hawks have completed four of their ten scrimmages this fall with a record of 3-1. The most recent win came against ABAC on Sept. 27 with a score of 11-9. Upcoming games will be Sunday, Oct. 4 at Savannah State University and Saturday, Oct. 10 at Mercer University in Macon. Games times for both days are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
