SGSC cross country wins region championship

South Georgia State College’s men’s and women’s cross country teams recently captured the NJCAA Region 17 Division I Cross Country Championships in Macon, Ga. South Georgia State College’s (SGSC) men’s and women’s cross country teams captured the NJCAA Region 17 Division I Cross Country Championships this past weekend in Macon.

Nathan Dukes of Wayne County finished first for the men’s team, running the 8K in 27:42. Dukes also earned the distinction of being named the MVP. Laura Parsley, an international student from Scotland, finished second, running the 5K in 23:55 for the women’s team.

The region meet was hosted by Central Georgia Technical College. The women’s competition included teams from Central Georgia Tech, Georgia Military College, Oxford College of Emory University, and SGSC. The men’s competition included Central Georgia Tech, Gordon State College, Oxford College of Emory University, and SGSC.

SGSC’s cross country teams are led by Coach Nichole Levering
