South Georgia State College’s men’s basketball team improved its record to 5-0 Saturday afternoon with a 109-42 win over Summer Hill.

The Hawks had four players score in double digits for the first time this season. Tyrone Sam was the leading scorer with 19 points, six rebounds, and one assist. Donovon Robinson had 18 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Andre Elam finished with 16 points, five rebounds, and three steals, while Jordan Young rounded out the top scorers with 11 points, five rebounds, and two steals.

The Hawks shot the ball much better Saturday compared to their previous game against USC-Salkehatchie. The team shot 54 percent from the field, 70 percent from the three-point line, and 75 percent from the free throw line.

“I thought we did a good job defensively in both halves,” said head coach Cory Baldwin. “We have a tough stretch of games next week, so it was good to play a lot of guys today.”

The Hawks travel to Mount Vernon Nov. 17 to play the junior varsity team from Brewton-Parker College. They will return home next Friday and Saturday, Nov. 20-21 for the Applebee’s Okefenokee College Classic. The Classic will feature four teams – Combine Academy, Eastern Florida State College, South Georgia Tech, and SGSC.

General admission to all regular season home games is five dollars with children five and under admitted free.
