SGSC Lady Hawks begin softball season at JUCO Showcase Kickoff Tournament

The South Georgia State College (SGSC) Lady Hawks 2016 softball season began as they traveled to Florida Jan. 29-31 to play in the JUCO Showcase Kickoff Tournament in Clearwater.

SGSC faced off against strong Florida teams including St. Johns River State, Broward State, Hillsborough State and Central Florida State.

The Lady Hawks dropped the first game of the tournament to St. Johns River State by a score of 11-8 but then followed with a 7-3 win against Broward State.

SGSC concluded the weekend with losses in their final contests by the scores of 4-0 (Hillsborough State) and 3-0 (Central Florida State).

The Lady Hawks travel to the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie in Allendale, S.C. on Saturday, Feb. 6 with game times of 1 and 3 p.m. The first home game is Feb. 11 against Florida State College. The doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. on the Douglas Campus.
