Coffee County Sheriff’s Office officials released the following information Tuesday morning regarding the recent arrests of two local men suspected of dealing in methamphetamine.
The Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit Detectives and K-9 deputies conducted a traffic stop on Jan. 26 on a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado truck for failure to maintain lane on Leon St. at Smith St. in Douglas. The driver, identified as Brandon Rowland, gave consent to a search of the vehicle and, under the hood of the vehicle, officers discovered a black zip-up bag.
Several types of illegal narcotics were found in the bag, and Rowland was arrested and transported to the Coffee County Jail. He has been charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute (28.1 grams), possession of cocaine (3.3 grams), four counts of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (35.5 tablets), two counts of possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance (4.5 tablets), and possession of marijuana – less than one ounce(4.2 grams).
On Feb. 9, a traffic stop for reckless driving was conducted on a red Chevrolet Silverado truck by a Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit detective and K-9. The driver of the truck was identified as Dustin Bowen. When Bowen opened the driver’s door of the truck, the deputies could see a plastic bag in the door panel that contained four packages of methamphetamine.
Bowen was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute (3.7 grams).
“We will continue to aggressively locate and remove the drugs and drug dealers from our community,” Sheriff Doyle Wooten stated. “I want to thank all officers for their continued efforts in locating and removing the drugs and persons selling these drugs from our community.”
