Wiregrass Georgia Technical College President Tina K. Anderson announces the promotion of Timothy Allmond as the new Chief of Police.  Chief Allmond will have his main office on the Coffee Campus in Douglas, but will also be working at the other campuses of the college. Chief Allmond has been in law enforcement for 15 years, having served his entire career with the City of Douglas Police Department. He left the police department in August of 2015 and has most recently worked as the criminal justice instructor on the Coffee campus. Prior to his career in law enforcement, he served in the United States Marine Corps with Second Reconnaissance Battalion, Second Marine Division and is a combat veteran.

“I am very excited about the opportunity that has been given to me at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. I know that with this position comes great responsibility, and it requires great dedication,” shared Chief Allmond. “As the new chief of police for the campus police department, my obligation is to the entire Wiregrass Community. It is the mission of the police department to provide a level of service and protection to students, faculty, staff, and visitors that meets the highest of standards. I will achieve this by promoting the values of quality service, teamwork, departmental development, and community involvement. I look forward to working with everyone and building a safe, positive, and productive educational environment. “

Chief Allmond has recently moved to Fitzgerald, Georgia, with his wife Claudia, and now calls Fitzgerald his home. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa, with a double major: Bachelors in Criminal Justice Administration and Business Administration.

Wiregrass has four campus locations including Fitzgerald, Douglas, Valdosta, and Sparks. They also operate a satellite office located at Moody AFB.
