Three members of South Georgia State College’s men’s basketball team have received postseason honors from the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA).

Tyrone Sam, a 6’6” sophomore from Roswell, Ga., was selected to the GCAA All-Tournament Team following his performance during the tournament quarterfinals and semifinals. For the season, Sam averaged 25.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game.

“T-Sam showed how good he was in the tournament. He put up numbers against two very good defensive teams that were focused on stopping him,” said head coach Cory Baldwin.

McKinley Chambless (6’6” RS-Fr., Damascus, Ga.) and Momodu Senghore (6’9” RS-Fr., Jonesboro, Ga.) were selected to the GCAA’s All-Academic Team. Both Chambless and Senghore maintained a minimum 3.0 grade point average over three semesters while playing basketball.

“The academic honors are always the most prestigious to me. I am very proud of both gentlemen,” Baldwin said.

The Hawks clinched the second seed in the GCAA Tournament and lost to Central Georgia Tech in the semifinals.
