Merchants in downtown Douglas will host a Shop Local Spring Open House in conjunction with Georgia Cities Week activities.

Main Street merchants will have bargains, special clearances, and sidewalk sales on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 10 a.m to 6 p.m.

“We are excited about the Shop Local Spring Open House,” says Pattie Merritt, Main Street Coordinator. “We have a 98% occupancy rate in the Main Street district, and most of these businesses are owned by local people who are our neighbors and friends.  We hope this will be a successful spring event and would like to invite everyone to shop local these two days.”

Encouraging people to shop local helps small businesses that contribute to local economies by bringing growth and innovation to the community.  Small businesses also help to stimulate economic growth by providing employment opportunities to people who may not be employable by larger corporations.

For more information on Georgia Cities Week activities, call (912) 383-0277 or visit www.cityofdouglas.com.
