The shootings of three people that occurred early Wednesday morning in Broxton were apparently the result of an ongoing domestic dispute.

Broxton police and the GBI continue to investigate the incident, but have released few official details.

Mother and daughter Mary and Jerrilynn Myers each sustained gunshot wounds during the incident, which occurred in the area of Hunter Ln. in Broxton. Another individual, identified as Dustin Steverson, was also injured and is believed to be the primary aggressor.

Douglas Now has learned that Steverson was recently arrested for terroristic threats against Jerrilynn Myers, but was released from jail after being granted a bond from a Coffee County magistrate judge.

Jerrilynn Myers and Steverson remain hospitalized; the extent of their injuries has not been disclosed at this time.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued the following statement Wednesday afternoon:

“On Wednesday, June 1, 2016, the GBI’s Douglas Regional Office was requested by the Broxton Police Department to assist in an aggravated assault investigation.

On this same date, officers with the Broxton Police Department responded to 107 Hunter Lane, Broxton, GA in reference to a report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, officers found Mary Myers, age 39, and Jerri Lynn Myers, age 23, at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds.  They were both transported to hospitals in Savannah and Douglas.  A third individual, Dustin Steverson, age 24, was transported by family members to a hospital in Ben Hill County.

This investigation is active and ongoing as agents and investigators continue to pursue leads into this shooting incident.  Anyone who has information pertaining to this investigation is encouraged to contact the Broxton Police Department at (912) 359-3813 or the Georgia Bureau of Investigation at (912) 389-4103.”
