Diana Jacobs was sentenced to 10 years in prison today in Coffee County Superior Court after pleading guilty earlier this month to concealing a death and exploitation of an elderly or disabled adult.   Jacobs has been incarcerated in the Coffee County Jail for nearly two years on charges related to the death of Alexander Hunter, 67, whose body was found buried in a shed behind Rosewood Manor assisted living facility in Nicholls.  Though she was initially charged with malice murder, Jacobs was never indicted.

Jacobs testified in court to the events surrounding the night she buried Mr. Hunter in the shed outside the personal care home.  She also testified regarding multiple checks, belonging to another resident, that she signed.

After hearing all the evidence, Judge J. Kelly sentenced Jacobs to serve 10 years in prison on the charge of concealing a death, the statutory maximum.  On the charge of exploitation of an elderly/disabled adult (stemming from the signed checks), he sentenced Jacobs to 20 years, 10 of which she is to serve in prison.  Both sentences will run concurrent with each other.

Jacobs’ husband, James Jacobs, was indicted for malice murder and other charges in the case and remains in the Coffee County Jail.
