Two men were arrested by Alma police over the weekend following a home invasion in which the victim was allegedly tied up before the assailants stole cash and other valuables.

Authorities reported Alma police responded to a residence on Magnolia Dr. just before midnight Friday, where they discovered two people had kicked in the door, tied the victim, and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and two gold rings.  The victim, who was not physically harmed, was able to identify one of the two suspects.

Officials were able to locate one of the suspects at his home on W. 15th St., and further questioning led officers to the second individual involved in the robbery.

As a result of the investigation, Dannie Joe Wertz (54) of Alma and his son, Monterrius Keair Wertz (22), also of Alma, have been charged with burglary and robbery, and both are being held in the Bacon County Jail.

According to authorities, Dannie Joe Werts was wearing one of the victim’s rings at the time of his arrest.
