A 20-year-old Waycross mother was arrested on drug-related and other charges by Alma police earlier this week following an incident that began as a minor traffic violation.

Police initiated a stop on Lindsay Brooke Parks Thursday afternoon on N. Baker St at E. 9th St. in Alma.  As Parks exited her vehcile, she allegedly dropped several pills, later identifed as the controlled substance Tramadol, onto the ground.  Officers recovered a total of 13 pills from the ground and inside of the vehicle.

Parks was travelling with her two-year-old daughter and a 16-year-old juvenile and admitted to authorities she’d illegally purchased the pills while her daughter was with her. Officials state the Department of Family & Children’s Services has placed the child with family members.

Parks has been charged with a seatbelt violation, a child restraint violation, suspended registration, reckless conduct, and possession of a controlled substance.  She remains in the Bacon County Jail.

In an unrelated incident that occurred shortly afterwards, APD officers stopped another vehicle on S. Dixon St. at W. 16th St. and allegedly discovered one ounce of marijuana.

As a resutl, Daniel Whidby (22) of Alma was arrested for felony possession of marijuana. He has since been released on bond.
