The South Georgia State College swim team opened their season last Saturday with an impressive start. The team traveled to Thomasville for a four-team meet against host Thomas University, Keiser University and Point University. SGSC’s women won the meet against the four-year schools and the men’s team finished third. Keiser won the men’s side of the competition.

Leading the swimmers were Kiana Ocasio-Molina of Jacksonville, FL in the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke, Nikki Daley of Warner Robins, GA, in the 50 free and 100 free and Casey Pridgen of Panama City, FL in the 100 butterfly.

The women’s 400 medley relay team of Ocasio-Molina, Madison Elliott of Macon, GA, Jessica Dunton of Carrollton, GA, and Delaney Smith of Albany, GA also took first place honors.

“We swam really well overall,” said head coach CM Jenkins. “About one third of our team had personal best times to open up the season which is very encouraging since we were not rested at all for this meet.”

The team will be back in action on November 5th at home on the Douglas Campus of South Georgia State College.
