Mr. John Henry “Pee Wee” Merritt

Mr. John Henry “Pee Wee” Merritt, age 82, of Ambrose passed away, Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, following a short illness. He was born July 22, 1934 to the late Ira Merritt and the late Pearlie Smith Merritt. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Merritt Glenn. Mr. Merritt, a native of Jeff Davis County, was self-employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He was also a veteran of the US Army.

Survivors include: His Wife, Betty Sue Watson Merritt of Ambrose, GA; 2 Sons, John Merritt of Douglas, GA and Craig Merritt of Ambrose, GA; 1 Daughter, Barbara Merritt of Ambrose, GA; 1 Brother, Ralph Merritt of Wray, GA; 7 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; A Number of Step-Grandchildren; Several Nieces, Nephews, Other Relatives and Friends.

Funeral Services will be Friday, January 20, 2017, at New Hope Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Carroll Carver officiating. Entombment will follow in the Hew Hope Cemetery. Mr. Merritt will be placed in the church at 10:00 A.M. to lie in state until the funeral hour.

The family will be receiving friends Thursday evening, January 19, 2017, from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Ricketson Funeral Home.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
