Sen. Tyler Harper (R – Ocilla) announced this week the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contract awards for Senate District 7. These projects were advertised in January, bids were received on February 17, and contracts were awarded on March 3 to the lowest qualified bidder. The awards focus on construction and operational improvements that enhance safety, address congestion and bring much needed upgrades to roadways throughout Georgia.

“As our roads and infrastructure continue to deteriorate, it’s important that we continue to invest in keeping our roads well-maintained,” said Sen. Harper. “These projects and more are proof that Georgia is prioritizing the safety of our public roadways and I thank GDOT for their work in bringing these projects to our district. I look forward to continuing to work with GDOT and my colleagues who serve with me in the General Assembly in representing our district to bring more transportation projects to our district.”

Projects in District 7 include over $1.7 million of funding for road resurfacing and maintenance projects in Ben Hill County along 8.2 miles of SR 11 from north of Bush Avenue to north of Bowden Road, and $5.4 million for resurfacing and shoulder rehab on SR 206 from Broxton Road to north of SR 32 and from SR 107 to Broxton Highway in Ben Hill, Coffee and Irwin counties.
