Henry Nelson Bland, age 84, of Douglas, GA passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Augusta, GA following an extended illness.

Mr. Bland was born on July 11, 1932, in Conway, SC to the late Samuel Bland and Atha Bessie Jordan Bland. Survivors include: his wife, Elena Elizabeth Bland of Douglas, GA; daughter, Marie Bland of Douglas, GA; seven sons, James Bland, Jack Bland, Joseph Bland, Ryon Bland all of Douglas, GA, Johnny Bland of Lake Placid, FL, Nelson Bland of Jacksonville, FL, and David Bland of Texas; sister, Marie Norris of Asheboro, NC; brother, Bill Bland of Longs, SC; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

The funeral service was held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at the chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Blare officiating. Interment followed at Satilla Memorial Gardens. Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
