Throughout Georgia, many people have been affected by homicide and often these homicides are unsolved. In Douglas-Coffee County, there are several unsolved homicide cases. As part of “City in the Mix Day,” a special prayer vigil will be held for victims of solved and unsolved homicide cases in Douglas and Coffee County. The purpose will be to let everyone know homicide cases in the community have not been forgotten and remain a top priority.

“We want families to know we remember these victims as we continue to work on unsolved homicide cases,” says Police Chief Gary Casteloes. “Unsolved crimes can be solved – all it takes is for someone to come forward with information regarding the homicide.”

“City in the Mix Day” is an event hosted by the City of Douglas, public safety officials, and community organizations to spread awareness of Douglas’ “See Something, Say Something” campaign which focuses on citizens reporting suspicious activities in the community. The event will take place on April 29, 2017 from 11am – 3pm at 200 S. Madison Avenue, behind Central Square Complex. Family and loved ones of the victims in solved and unsolved Douglas-Coffee County homicide cases should contact Wynetta Bolder, City Clerk, at 912-389-3405 to be involved with the prayer vigil. Anyone with information regarding the unsolved homicides should contact the anonymous See Something, Say Something Crime Tip Line at 912-260-3600 or email crimetips@cityofdouglas.com.
