Lona Van Harrell, age 81, of Santee, CA passed away Monday, September 18, 2017, at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, CA. Mrs. Harrell was born October 2, 1935, in Douglas, Georgia to the late Leroy Carver and Etta Mae Mobley Carver of Tifton, GA.

Survivors include: daughter, Ramona (Jimmy) Wallace of Santee, CA; brother, Glenn Parker Carver of Canton GA.; grandchildren: Kevin Maddox of Atlanta, GA, Jason Maddox of Atlanta, GA, Michael Harrell of Atlanta, GA, Dustin Harrell of Atlanta, GA, Jesse Harrell of Dublin, GA and Joshua Harrell of Dublin, GA; and several great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: husband, Bobby Harrell of Douglas, GA; mother, Etta Mae Carver; father, Leroy Carver; sons: Wendell Harrell and Darrell Harrell of Dublin, GA,; and great grandchild, Brandon Ray Maddox of Atlanta, GA,; brothers: George V. Carver of Fairfax, VA, Ronald E. Carver of White, GA, Stephen David Carver of Tennessee; sister, Barbara Carver Grant. of Jacksonville, Fl.

Ms. Harrell was a great worker for the kingdom of God. She had a hand in building many churches in the Church of God and the church camp grounds in the state of Georgia,

She always loved to sing, work the word search puzzles, and loved to listen to Rev. Jimmy Swaggert..

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the West Ward Street Church of God with Rev. Jeff Watkins and Rev. Britt Peavey officiated. Interment followed at Bethany Holiness Baptist Church.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
