Every year, several Lowe’s stores partner with their local community organizations to promote and help the communities they serve. For three consecutive years, local Lowe’s employees have volunteered their time and the program has funded remodeling projects for the Boys & Girls Club of Coffee County Region.

During the first year Al Silver, Lowe’s manager, and his team of Lowe’s Heroes were able to provide a pavilion and built picnic tables. Last year, the team installed a fence around the basketball court, painted the bathrooms and renovated the bathroom floors. This year, they revamped the front parking lot with a fresh blue paint job, provided mulch for the flower beds, installed another fence enclosing the play area and placed vinyl hardwood floors in the hallways and offices.

Bull Brown, 21st Century Community Learning Center Program Director/BGC Interim CEO, has big plans for his location. “Next year if we’re blessed to be in a partnership with them again we’re going to look at redoing the classrooms,” said Brown.

According to Silver, each year the Lowe’s Heroes program has the opportunity to choose a local charity to donate to. “We just keep coming back here because we see the need and it improves the community,” said Silver. The program has donated approximately $7500 to the Boys & Girls Club over a three year period.

The Lowe’s Heroes program allows for local Lowe’s locations to donate $2500 worth of products and employees donate the labor and time in order to install those products. Silver also mentioned how their donation increased from their first year’s amount of $1200 to now $2500. In previous years, The Lowe’s Heroes program donated to other local community organizations such as the Mary Hayes Center.

For more information about volunteering or sending contributions, please contact Bull Brown at (912) -384-0222.
