South Georgia State College’s swim teams traveled to Savannah last weekend to participate in the 15th annual SCAD Invitational swim meet against fifteen other four-year schools and had another great showing in the pool. “This is the fastest and biggest meet that we will go to all year,” commented Coach CM Jenkins. “The fast pool and elevated level of competition created an environment for fast times and our kids responded well.” The SGSC swimmers broke five school records at the meet and cut time in all four relays in which they participated.

Leading the men was Andrew Woith. The freshman from Normal, Illinois broke the school record in the 500 free with a time of 4:44.7 and again in the 200 free with 1:44.9. Jackson Bloom reestablished his 100 fly record coming in at 51.56. Sophomore Jessica Dunton broke the women’s 400 IM record with a time of 4:43.2 and Freshman Jessilyn Graham set a new mark in the 100 breaststroke with her time of 1:09.6.

After a semester break, the Hawks will return to a regular schedule with the South Georgia Sprint Meet on Jan. 6, 2018,  on the Douglas Campus
