Several arrests made during the months of January-February, charges ranging from drug possession to outstanding warrants

On Jan. 28, the Alma Police Department conducted a traffic stop on W. 12th St for an equipment violation. James Virgil Braddock, 37 of Waycross, was arrested for an active parole warrant.

On Feb. 5, APD’s Crime Suppression Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by Dawson King, 18 of Alma. King was arrested for outstanding warrants out of Bacon County.

On Feb. 6, APD’s Crime Suppression Unit arrested Melissa Denise Lovejoy, 33 of Alma, for theft by taking following a theft on Feb. 3rd which occurred at Verizon Wireless. During the incident, Lovejoy reportedly took $170.00 from an employee’s purse.

On Feb. 17, APD’s Crime Suppression Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by Garrett Sanders, 52 of Hazlehurst. Sanders was arrested for outstanding warrants out of Jeff Davis County.

On Feb. 22, APD responded to a call of service and subsequently arrested Deshaun Williams, 23 of Alma, for outstanding arrest warrants.

On Feb. 25, APD responded to a suspicious person call in the 100 block of E. 18th St. Rena Wilson, 24 of Nicholls, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine.

On Feb. 26, APD’s Crime Suppression Unit conducted a traffic stop on S. Thomas St. for multiple seat belt violations. Alisha Rollins, 30 of Hazlehurst, was arrested for possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Officers seized tablets, 10 grams of methamphetamine, digital scales, and packaging materials. Also, on the 26th, APD arrested Chaz Giddens, 31 of Alma, for (3) counts of forgery. Giddens arrest followed an earlier incident at Parker’s in Alma.

On Feb. 28, APD made five arrests. Wednesday morning, APD responded to the 500 block of E. 12th St regarding a call of service. Jeremy Robinson, 19 of Alma, was arrested for damage to government property, (2) counts of criminal trespass, and felony obstruction of a law enforcement officer after Robinson assaulted the responding officer. Robinson was out of jail on bond for his role in an armed robbery which occurred in December 2016.

Later in the day, APD’s Crime Suppression Unit arrested Donovan Dayquan King, 22 of Alma, on outstanding arrest warrants from Lowndes County. Marquis Barron, 34 of Alma, was also arrested for outstanding probation warrants. Soon thereafter, APD’s Crime Suppression Unit arrested Linda Joy Sawyer, 28 of Alma, for an outstanding probation warrant.

On the evening of the 28th, APD arrested Tommy Lloyd Herrington, 23 of Alma, on outstanding probation warrants.
