Gerald Wayne Tanner, age 77, of Douglas, GA passed away on Monday May 21, 2018 at Vista Park following an extended illness. Mr. Tanner was born on January 14, 1941 in Coffee County, GA the son of the late Benjamin E. Tanner and Lillian Barker Tanner.

He worked as a truck driver for Wal Mart was a member of Glade Creek Baptist Church in Mt. Airy, GA and attended Sand Hill Baptist Church since moving to Douglas, GA.

Survivors include: daughters: Carrie A. Tanner and boyfriend Richard of Douglas, GA and Sarah Tanner of Brunswick, GA; son, Avery Tanner and wife Jerrie of Fitzgerald, GA; grandchildren: Joshua Brian Tanner of Douglas, GA, Austin Moran, Aaron Moran and Lauren Bennett and husband Byron all of Brunswick, GA; sister, Barbara Crews and husband Jimmy of Douglas, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Thursday May 24, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Sand Hill Baptist Church where Rev. Ed Lycett officiated.

Funeral services will also be held on Friday at 3 p.m. at Glade Creek Baptist Church, Mt. Airy, GA with Rev. Michael Justus and Rev. Ed Lycett officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
