Alma PD investigating July 21 shooting, announce arrests over the last two weeks

On July 4, APD responded to Fred’s regarding a shoplifting.  APD obtained video footage of an unknown female removing Newport cigarettes and a Beanie baby from behind a counter.  If anyone knows the identity of the female in the attached photo, please contact the Alma Police Department at (912) 632-8751.

—–July 8th Arrests—–

APD arrested Christopher Herrington, 38 of Baxley, for possession of methamphetamine and possession of a schedule IV controlled substance (Alprazolam) following a suspicious person call on Douglas St.  Herrington also had outstanding probation warrants for burglary in Appling County.

APD arrested Moses Lee Reynolds, 70 of Alma, for simple assault-FVA and criminal trespass-FVA following a fight on Bluebell Drive.

—–July 9th Arrests—–

APD’s Crime Suppression Unit arrested Roderick Dion Monroe, 37 of Waycross, for driving with a suspended driver’s license following a traffic stop on W. 12th St for a traffic violation. 

APD’s Crime Suppression arrested Kenneth Timothy Francis, 52 of Alma, in the 100 block of W. 8th St for possession of cocaine and giving false name and information. Francis was also wanted by APD on outstanding warrants.

APD arrested Emmanuel Escobar Valera, 24 of Alma, for driving without a driver’s license following a traffic stop on E. 16th St for an equipment violation.

—–July 10th Arrests—–

APD’s Crime Suppression Unit arrested Jason Jerrideau, 33 of Waycross, for criminal trespass at Flash Foods on S. Pierce St.  Jerrideau has been arrested multiple times over the last few months for trespassing at several local businesses.

APD arrested Katherine Marie Spores, 38 of Alma, for simple battery-FVA following a fight in the 100 block of W. 12th St.

—–July 11th Arrest—–

APD arrested Lisa Marie Smith, 39 of Alma, at Flash Foods on S. Pierce St. for driving with a suspended driver’s license and an outstanding aggravated assault warrant which stemmed from an incident at MLK Park in June.

—–July 13th Arrests—–

APD arrested Benito Reyes, 39 of Alma, for driving without a driver’s license, suspended license plate, and no insurance following a traffic stop on GA HWY 32 E.

APD arrested Steven Smith, 46 of Alma, for driving with a suspended driver’s license and a probation warrant following a traffic stop for a cracked windshield and an equipment violation.

APD arrested Matthew Craig Williams, 31 of Alma, for battery-FVA following an altercation at Oak St and Walnut St.

—–July 14th Arrests—–

APD arrested Julia Diaz, 59 of Alma, for driving without a driver’s license following a traffic stop on S. Pierce St.

APD arrested Corey Don Capps, 29 of Alma, for possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct following a suspicious person call at Sweat’s Laundry on W. 15th St.

—–July 17th Arrest—–

APD arrested Booker T. Chandel, 67 of Alma, for driving with a suspended driver’s license.

—–July 18th Arrest—–

APD arrested Ciara German, 28 of Nicholls, for outstanding arrest warrants stemming from a 2017 terroristic threats and acts complaint.

—–July 20th Arrest—–

APD arrested Percilla Barton, 39 of Alma, for driving without a driver’s license.

—–July 21st Arrests—–

APD arrested Casey Lee Holton, 37 of Alma for DUI-Drugs following a traffic stop for erratic driving.  Holton is currently on parole for an unrelated drug offense.

APD arrested Charles William Batson, 47 of Alma, for driving with a suspended driver’s license and concealing the identity of a vehicle (placement of a valid license plate registered to a different vehicle) following a traffic stop for a cracked windshield.

Saturday night shooting in Alma

APD responded to a shooting on Pope Drive Saturday night after 11 p.m.  Officers discovered one vehicle had been shot several times.  Officers also discovered evidence indicating a second vehicle (not on scene) had also been shot.  Officers recovered almost one dozen bullet casings.  No injuries were reported at the time of this release.  Pope Drive is one block east of Bacon County Elementary School.
