The Coffee Trojans lost their second region game in as many weeks Friday night as they fell to the Valdosta Wildcats 37-22 in Valdosta.

The Trojans jumped out to an early 7-0 lead on a long touchdown pass from A.J. Wilkerson to K.J. Davis. However, the Wildcats rallied and dominated the rest of the first half and went into halftime with a 23-7 lead.

Valdosta opened the second half with another touchdown to go up 30-7. Coffee woke up a bit and scored twice in the second half, and made a two-point conversion after the final touchdown, to narrow the gap to 30-22. Despite driving late in the game, the Trojans ran out of gas on their final drive and turned the ball over on downs. With under two minutes left, the Wildcats added a late score to widen their lead to 37-22.

Wilkerson completed two touchdown passes in the second half, one to Maurice Turner (34 yards) and the other to Brian Wimbley (22 yards). Defensively, Latorik Wynn hauled in his first interception of the year and Jase Rish notched a big sack and recovered a fumble late in the fourth quarter that gave Coffee a chance at the end zone.

The Trojans are now 6-2 overall and 0-2 in region play with two games remaining. Both games are at home. Next week, Coffee plays the Houston County Bears at Jardine Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
